The trek to Everest Base Camp is maybe the most well known high rise trek on earth, and deservedly so. Trek through bamboo woodland, along winding edges, over suspension spans, up frosty valleys, and underneath the most magnificent crests on earth. Panoramic views incorporate the triangular summits of AmaDablam, Pumori, and Nuputse, backed by the monstrous dividers of ice, shake, and snow of Mt.Everest.

Our Nepalese agent does have experience of taking at least one group from the French adventure travel company, Japanese to Saribung Peak in 2016, and we know that the mountain has been climbed on several occasions in the last 2 years. However, we have pitched this as a reconnaissance because of the remoteness of the Damodar Himal and the fact that there is still some uncertainty about the day-to-day itinerary. During the trek, we will experience the weird and wonderful landscape of Mustang, cross a high and glaciated pass close to the border with Tibet and have the opportunity to climb the straightforward Saribung Peak, before trekking out through the valleys of Naar and Phu. The initial approach to Mustang takes us through the Kali Gandaki (deepest valley in the world) and up into an arid and starkly beautiful region of Nepal, colored red, grey and yellow by natural earth pigments and highlighted by picturesque white-washed villages and red-painted monasteries. After our first week of trekking, exploration and necessary acclimatization, including 2 nights at the walled ‘city’ of Lo Manthang, we head up into the Damodar Himal, to the lake and pilgrimage site at Damodar Kund (4890m) and then onwards to the glaciated Saribung Pass (6020m). Above the pass, the rounded snow-dome of Saribung Peak presents an obvious (and entirely optional) challenge and offers fantastic views of a collection of neighboring peaks, including Khumjungar Himal (6759m) and Chhib Himal (6581m), as well as views across the nearby border into Tibet. Then, descending from the pass, we find ourselves in a pretty uncharted territory as we trek southwards to the isolated villages of Phu and Meta and exit to the popular Annapurna Circuit at Koto. Within just 3 weeks, this is a classic Nepalese trekking adventure topped off with an achievable 6000-meter peak and a selection of the best Himalayan mountain views.
